As material in piercing jewelry Bioplast® has become increasingly popular in recent years, partly because it is a skin friendly material with a smooth surface that minimizes bacterial growth and accelerates healing. It is softer than metal, which means that many prefer to wear jewelry made of bioplastic in piercings in the lip. Bioplastics also capable of being sterilized in an autoclave. Bioplast® also works great to use if you need to undergo an MRI, but always check with your physician as to what applies where you will undergo the examination.
