This piercing was relatively uncommon 15-20 years ago, but has since grown in popularity, both on the street and on television. You may have seen Erl Van Aken, the man the piercing got its name from, in the vampire movie Blade, where he plays the character Von Esper. One of the piercings' biggest appearances took place in the film The Escape from Absolom, where Stewart Wilson's character had not just one, but three, erl piercings. This movie caught the eye of many for this piercing.
No matter why you want it, it is a striking alternative to adorn yourself with, as it draws attention and intensity to the eyes and the eyebrow line.
If you dare this piercing, it will take you about 3-4 months or longer to heal and you will take care of it in the same way as an eyebrow piercing. Like the eyebrow, Erlen has a tendency to change and grow out, especially if it becomes irritated or infected. It appears to pass through the nasal bone, but it does not pass through the bone or cartilage but sits only in the loose skin at the root of the nose. Not everyone has soft, pinchable skin there for this piercing, but of course we check that before we do. If you cannot have it, there is a risk that it will emigrate very quickly. People with glasses have noticed a greater tendency to migrate due to irritation from the glasses, but it depends on the individual anatomy. If the glasses do not reach the piercing, there should be no problem.
The most common ways to take care of a new piercing are:
Either you use Saline that you can mix yourself and soak the piercing with, you can also buy ready-made saline in spray form that speeds up healing with the help of natural sea salt and minerals. The spray gently removes any scabs.
Or you can use an antiseptic/bacterial solution, we have an antiseptic spray that you can use. Pegacare, it has Panhenol as an active ingredient, it accelerates cell renewal and helps your piercing to heal quickly and smoothly.
Alternatively, you can wash with Barbarella Bodysoap. It is an antiseptic soap that you use in the shower, take a few drops in your hand when you shower, lather up and soap the piercing. Leave on for 30 seconds. Rinse thoroughly with water afterwards.
