On January 1, 2024, it became prohibited to sell disposable cups that contain more than 15% plastic on the Swedish market. By introducing this ban, the idea is that the disposable cups that continue to be used on the market will consist largely of renewable raw materials that break down faster.

Disposable paper cups are an excellent and popular alternative to plastic cups. The paper cups are coated with a thin layer of bioplastic or wax to make them waterproof. They are biodegradable and easy to recycle.
